The Power of Mint

Mint leaves are not only good for those delicious mojitos or as a garnish for added flavor, but the mint plant can be used for so much more. As a kidney transplant survivor I had to figure out a better way to eat and digest my food. I discovered the mint plant and it does wonders for me. Mint leaves are anti-inflammatory in nature which helps in reducing any inflammation in your stomach, this is why I normally would get a pitcher of spring water and infuse it with mint leaves and let it sit overnight! A nice glass of lukewarm mint water first thing in the morning will do your body good. It also helps relieve indigestion which was a huge problem when I was on dialysis.

One of the main reasons I included Mint in the Chef Benne’ Seasonings is because it also boost the immune system. I now take 14 pills a day with a compromised immune system so anything that can help me is a good thing. Mint is rich in vitamins A, C, D, and E. As a beauty professional, I am always looking for ways to keep my skin looking and feeling amazing, Mint leaves contains high levels of salicylic acid which is known for fighting acne and blemishes.

Finally, Mint helps clear the congestion from your nose, and lungs. It helps you with treating a cold and really helps with breathing, along with fresh breath. The antibacterial property of mint helps in relieving irritation caused by coughing and is awesome as a stress reliever. I put the mint stalks in my steam water in my home sauna and believe me you instantly feel and see the difference! The power of mint!
